Scholarships for college attendance in the USA
Would you like to travel to the USA during your training and gain international experience? Our exchange program offers you exactly that opportunity.
Good reasons
Only around five percent of all trainees spend part of their training abroad, even though there are many good reasons to do so. A stay abroad:
- improves foreign language skills
- provides insights into the international job market
- strengthens personal and professional development
- promotes understanding of political contexts and transatlantic relations
- expands your (professional) network
- increases self-confidence
Application
Who can apply?
Trainees who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:
- are at least 18 and no more than 27 years old at the time of departure and are still in training,
- are completing their training in one of the following regions: Hamburg metropolitan area or Schleswig-Holstein
- have sufficient English language skills,
- have little or no experience abroad.
The application phase begins on May 1, 2026.
Contents of the scholarship
The scholarship includes:
- Organization of a college course
- Preparation and follow-up seminars
- Cultural program
- Round-trip flight to the USA
- Costs and organization of accommodation
- International health insurance
- Monthly allowance for educational expenses during the stay
- Personal and professional support on site
To be paid by yourself:
- Meal expenses in the USA
- Costs for the purchase of a new passport
- Travel expenses to the following events: Selection interview and preparatory and follow-up meetings in Hamburg
