Personnel change in the Executive Board of the Joachim Herz Foundation

Program Director Nina Lemmens to leave the Foundation as of March 3, 2023.

Dr. Nina Lemmens, a member of the Executive Board of the Joachim Herz Foundation since October 2018, will be leaving the Executive Board of the Joachim Herz Foundation at her own request on March 3. For four and a half years, she was responsible for the program areas of natural science, business and personal development. She now wants to pursue new professional challenges.

Over the past four years, Nina Lemmens has been instrumental in driving forward and expanding the program work of the Joachim Herz Foundation. Her greatest successes include, for example, the Innovation Fund for Science Journalism, which was realized in cooperation with the Science Press Conference and other partner foundations as well as the BMBF. From the very beginning, one focus of Lemmens' work for the foundation has been the area of vocational training, which has been greatly expanded under her leadership. The new Azubi Kolleg Lübeck, which is to be expanded to other locations in the future, is the first personal development program for apprentices.

Dr. Henneke Lütgerath, Chairman of the Board of Trustees: "On behalf of the Board of Trustees, I would like to thank Nina Lemmens for the trusting and successful cooperation and her dedicated work for the Joachim Herz Foundation. She has succeeded in giving valuable new impetus to our operational work. We wish her all the best for her future path."

Prior to her appointment to the board of the Joachim Herz Foundation, Nina Lemmens worked for more than 20 years at the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), most recently as director of the New York office. Lemmens looks back positively on her time at the Joachim Herz Foundation: "Working at the Foundation was a great enrichment for me. It was a great honor and an equally great pleasure for me to work with our dedicated team to further consolidate our program work in education and science and to develop new topics for the future. Together with my colleagues on the Executive Board, I was able to develop a new strategy last year, so that the field is also very well tilled for the coming years. For all this and the trust placed in me, I would like to thank the Board of Trustees, the Executive Board and my colleagues."
