Best Wishes for a Successful New Year

What you see chemist Alejandro Lorente Sanchez throwing in the air here isn’t Christmas glitter, but rather a biobased adsorbent material at the centre of his research. With this he looks for ways to filter PFAS – “forever chemicals” – out of water, and, through our innovate! academy, we are helping Alejandro take his idea from the lab into practice.

Courage, pioneering spirit and the drive to enable new ideas shape the work of our foundation. In 2025 we were able to exemplify this commitment through the “Impossible Founders”, a new Startup Factory that encourages Deep Tech spinoffs and Green Tech in Hamburg. In Bremen, the matena innovate! center has its first four projects up and running with an eye to helping them to convert cutting edge materials research into market ready solutions. We are convinced that change happens when someone dares to take the first step – and it is our aim to make these first steps possible.

This Christmas we are once again taking a stand for social solidarity by contributing to several organizations working for the greater good.

In Hamburg, we are donating 5,000 euros each to three organizations whose work helps some of the most vulnerable members of our society. These organizations are the Autonome Frauenhaus Hamburg e. V., Tausche Bildung für Wohnen e. V. and the Hamburg Leuchtfeuer.
In addition, we are also supporting several projects in Newton County (USA), the location of the Joachim Herz House. The Garden of Gethsemane Homeless Shelter is receiving 2,000 USD towards its important work, while our 4,000 USD donation to Alcovy High School will help ensure that as many of their students as possible finish their high school studies successfully.
