The Foundation in Brief
The Joachim Herz Foundation was founded in 2008 following the death of Hamburg-based entrepreneur Joachim Herz.
Together with his wife Petra Herz, he laid the basis for the Foundation’s assets, which stand at around €1.3 billion (carrying value).
In accordance with the founder’s wishes and the Foundation’s statutes, the majority of the Foundation’s capital is tied up in commercial investments. The lion’s share is invested directly in Beiersdorf AG. This is complemented by a real estate portfolio centered on the US and a conservative securities portfolio.
A total of €15.3 million was used for charitable projects in 2017, in 2018 it was €15.8 million. In 2019 we are planning with a volume of € 18.8 million.
The entrepreneurial interests are 78 percent, the focus is on Beiersdorf AG. Financial investments are 7 percent, real estate investments 15 percent.
