Prof. Monika Harms Joins Executive Board of Joachim Herz Stiftung.
Federal Attorney General Supports the Foundation in Positioning and Future Development.
Prof. Monika Harms has been made a member of the Board of Governors of the Joachim Herz Stiftung. At its most recent meeting, the Board of Trustees of the Joachim Herz Stiftung unanimously voted to appoint Ms. Harms. The German Attorney General will commence her work for the Foundation as of July 1, 2011.
As a non-managing member, Prof. Harms will be supporting her fellow Board members – Petra Herz, Chairperson, and Dr. Martin Kefferpütz – with the positioning and further development of the Foundation.
Prof. Harms has been Chairperson of the Board of Governors of the University of Leipzig since last year and is deeply committed to examining questions relating to the future of education and science.
“Prof. Harms will enrich the Joachim Herz Stiftung immensely with her expertise and sound judgment. The Foundation gains a figure of national importance in Prof. Harms. Together we hope to further increase the Foundation’s scope of activities,” says Petra Herz, Chairperson of the Board of Governors of the Joachim Herz Stiftung.
When questioned about her new responsibilities, Prof. Monika Harms said, “I very much look forward to the change of perspective that my appointment to the Board of Governors at the Joachim Herz Stiftung will bring. It is an exciting objective to help to shape the future of science and education from within a foundation. It is a great opportunity and a challenge to be involved in establishing and building up one of the big German foundations.”
Dr. Klaus Landry, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, emphasizes the positive feeling about the new appointment, saying, “We are very pleased that Prof. Harms will be contributing to the Joachim Herz Stiftung with her wide range of experience.”
